Sheridan Christian Center Host Magicians Conference

Tulsa, OK is the home of the Green Country Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians. On Sept 22, 2017, Tim Ward, president of GCC of FCM opened a weekend of workshops and lectures for magicians, ventriloquists, clowns, balloon artists and story tellers. Over 10 different workshops and lectures featuring some of the leaders in magic and Christian ministry.

The conference started with a lecture by pastor Nathan J. Roberts of Joplin, MO presenting music for your show. Pastor Roberts demonstrated intros, voice overs, effect without music and the same effect with music. He also made his various compilations of music for use in your shows with all rights except resale. He told a story of how he was snoozing one night when some music on television woke him and he realized it was his music. A performer who had purchased from him was on tv and doing a routine set to his background music.

Friday night was highlighted by a public show emceed by past international FCM president, Len Camp. The show featured performances by Pastor Roberts, Sparkle & Jeszme (Ed and Rena Cavender from Pennsylvania), immediate past FCM president Steve Varro, Pastor Brett Luallen, Doug Anderson, and past FCM president Del Wilson.

Saturday started with lectures and workshops from 9:30 until noon. Chik-fil-a was a sponsor and provided lunch for all attendees. There were approximately 45 in attendance. There were 3 dealer tables and while the focus was on Christian magic, other items were available for sale.

By the time the conference concluded at around 5pm, many new friendships and promises of support for our Dallas Chapter were sealed. I look forward to next year in hopes we can have a great presence in Gospel magic for our region.
